SCAG Sustainable Communities Program Releases ‘Smart Cities and Mobility Innovations’ Call for Projects Final Report

SCAG published the final report for the Sustainable Communities Program – Smart Cities and Mobility Innovations funding cycle. This call for projects funded curb data collection and inventory, technology assessment and adoption, parking management, and permitting process evaluation. These resources supported local jurisdictions in improving the efficiency and performance of the transportation system by implementing curb space management measures that encouraged shared modes, effectively managed parking, and supported commerce and the growth of housing and employment in job centers.
Eight projects were awarded under the call:
- Cities of Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Stanton, Curb Bundle
- San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, GoSGV Engagement and Evaluation
- City of Desert Hot Springs, Downtown and Light Industrial Parking Plan
- City of Garden Grove, Curb Data Parking Study
- City of Laguna Woods, Mobility Technology Plan
- City of Rialto, Smart Cities Plan for Warehousing and Logistics
The final report includes detailed descriptions of each project, insights into their benefits and challenges, and key findings about these innovative solutions. The projects supported multimodal and shared mobility, reduced vehicle miles traveled, improved air quality, boosted health and equity, and mitigated negative community impacts.
The report also includes recommendations for expanding these strategies at a regional level.
